After all, they're built from brand-new GM Goodwrench 350 blocks. What's more, with their 8.5:1 compression ratio and carefully chosen components, they should deliver dependable performance on low-octane fuel. Aside from the 4-bolt-main block, the major components include a precision-machined cast-iron crank, cast-aluminum pistons, powdered-metal connecting rods, Performer aluminum heads with 2.02 in. intake valves and 1.60 in. exhausts, a Performer camshaft, stamped-steel rockers, an efficient Performer EPS intake manifold, and a 650 cfm Thunder Series AVS Edelbrock square-bore carburetor with an electric choke. You also get an 8 in. harmonic balancer, high-quality ARP head bolts, an MSD Blaster 2 coil, an MSD Pro Billet distributor designed specifically for these engines, Edelbrock's classy Elite valve covers, and an Elite-Series water pump (where applicable). Since the Performer 2102 camshaft is tailored to match the compression ratio, manifold, and carburetor, you get smooth performance from idle all the way to 5,500 rpm. Intake lift is 0.420 in.; exhaust lift, 0.442 in. Intake duration at 0.050 in. lift is 204 degrees; exhaust, 214. This cam produces an impressive 310 HP, with 375 ft.-lbs. of torque.
