These bench dogs do what they are supposed to do, but they are pretty big. They'll leave sizeable marks in the wood when used. So they are best used on hidden faces or rustic projects.

I love these pinch dogs! They are compact so easy to store. They are also made of thick gauge steel so they are super strong and durable. While I love modern tools and conveniences, occasionally it’s fun to use old school tools like these pinch dogs. It is a great way to secure a board to my bench while I plane or route the surface of the board. I used these to cut decorative and structural butterfly dadoes on the surface of boards being joined to form a coffee table surface and they worked great. The boards did not shift in the process so my daddies came out perfect. The short side to side length of the pinchers keeps them out of the way, but the sharp wedged points hold the board securely in place. This is a great addition to a woodworking arsenal and very affordable priced.
