If you leave the lid on then the pressure differential won't allow anything to flow out of the tap even when you open the spigot to full. You have to remove the lid almost completely to get flow. Not a great design.

Absolutely wonderful! Worth every party for weddings or baby shower or family get together. Thick glass. I would have given it 5 stars but you cannot store them back in the box they come in unless you take the spout off each time.Also, if water gets stuck, you need to lift the lid off a few times until the seal loosens up. I bought a send set!
