I looked at buying some mitten straps to run through my son’s coat sleeves because he lost about 30 pairs of gloves at school last year 😧. But then I realized I could get a package of these clips and some ribbon and make many of them for the same price as buying 1 or 2 straps.I wanted to choose this clip type because the more common type is too easy for my son (5) to undo and he just undoes them and takes them off all the time. He can open these himself, but it takes a lot more effort so he’s much less likely to undo one every time he has the slightest impulse.So I ordered these, plus some 1” satin ribbon. I just cut the ribbon to length, threaded it through the clips and tied about 5 knots at each end to keep it very secure. It has worked perfectly all winter so far, and to my amazement my son has not lost his mittens once!One time one of his mittens got caught in the car seat and when he pulled hard on it the clip bent so that it no longer closed tightly. Since I had a whole box of clips, I could have easily replaced it, but I thought I’d try bending it back first, which I did with a pair of pliers. And the same clip has actually still been holding up fine. Great quality!
