I just purchased this two weeks ago. I am glad that I purchased this product. Let me start by saying my home is my trailer and this toilet is used daily. My previous portable toilet was a Fiamma and it was great, but after 5 years it could not contain the smell and would leak. I read the reviews of the product and was hesitant to put out more than a hundred dollars on a portable toilet that may or may not have an electric flush problem. Luckily I did receive one that does flush, but as some reviewers mentioned it may go out. I have only had it two weeks...so far so good. I will update after a couple of months and again in one year. Now for my review of the portable toilet itself. I have to say that the Fiamma I had was good, but this Thetford Curve is better. First, it stands taller than my Fiamma and the Thetford feels like a real toilet. It looks much better with the smooth lines and curve, which is nice for when company comes over and they don't have to encounter a square clunker looking toilet and the uptight people will feel more comfortable sitting on the Thetford Curve. The automatic flush is great. It does the job and does not spray up on the toilet seat like t Fiamma's manual flush would do. I am a overweight person and I am comfortable on this toilet. This toilet feels sturdy. I wouldn't sit on the lid (even if I was skinny) because it really isn't made to be sat on.I have just emptied this for the first time. I don't have the greatest back and because of the way you need to hold it with the weight of the waste it is a little awkward and put a little more strain on my back than the Fiamma toilet did. But that could just take getting use to (maybe). But and this is a big but (no pun intended)...I would take the awkwardness of emptying the Thetford Curve over the Fiamma for one reason and to me a big reason. When emptying the Fiamma, it would splash all over (even outside the bowl no matter how fast or slow I emptied) and would come out like "glop glop" which creates more splash. Very unpleasant. But the Thetford Curve was so much better. The little air vent button worked like a charm. There was no splashing. There was no "glop glop" at all. It was poured out like a pitcher of water. Not one splash outside the bowl. It made an unpleasant task bearable. Even if my electric flush didn't work (which it does), the way this empties out made it worth it.One piece of advice for those who do purchase the Thetford toilet. The little air vent button that I like does have a tiny flaw, but can be avoided. Make sure that you do not fill the waste in your toilet up to full. When you go to empty it and it is completely full, when you push the air vent button the waste liquid may leak out where the button is located. Luckily, I did not have the waste close to being full when I emptied it, but found out this minor flaw after I decided to completely fill it with water on my third rinse of the toilet. So please be aware that this can happen. Still, I would get this Thetford Curve even with that tiny flawONE YEAR UPDATE: IT HAS BEEN A YEAR AND IT STILL WORKS GREAT. THE FLUSH STILL WORKS GREAT. NO ISSUES AT ALL. ONE OF THE COMMENTS I MADE ORIGINALLY WAS THAT IT WAS AWKWARD TO EMPTY (ESPECIALLY WITH A BAD BACK). I HAVE NO PROBLEM EMPTYING IT AND IT IS NOT AWKWARD ANYMORE...IT JUST TOOK GETTING USED TO EMPTYING THIS STYLE OVER THE FIAMMA. MATTER OF FACT, I HAVE FOUND THAT EMPTYING THE THETFORD CURVE IS MUCH FASTER THAN MY PREVIOUS FIAMMA AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN THAT IT DOES NOT CREATE A GLOB GLOB SPLASHING EFFECT. IT IS SMOOTH TO EMPTY, QUICK TO EMPTY AND MAKES A CRAPPY JOB (PUN INTENDED) BEARABLE.

This is the best portable toilet I have ever seen. We use it several ( Friday night to Sunday) weekends a month at our small cabin. No odors, clogging or other problems. I just changed the original batteries this past weekend. I use only Thetford RV toilet paper and Thetford green liquid chemical at the recommended rate.I bring the tank home with me on Sunday night and dump Monday morning usually. I have access to my cesspool through a cover so that where it gets dumped. I have never had it splash or spit back. Not an unpleasent experience yet. Use the air vent button.I then rinse well with a hose and swirl around and that water goes in too. Then a quick disinfect/ rinse with Pine-Sol. Tank is fresh and clean the next time I use it. Based on comments here I bought the manual pump from Europe for a spare. No need of it yet. My wife uses it too and has no complaints at all. Keep in mind that we use this in a 10 x 14 cabin in a curtained off corner. If it smelled you would know it!!! At the end of the weekend I clean the bowl and seat with a clorox type wipe and cover the bowl and seat part with the original plastic bag. That stays at the cabin until winter when I drain it. I would use cheap 1 gallon bottled water to fill the flush tank if you don't have good water or fill with water from home. Some unfiltered well or lake water can smell if left in the tank for long. The flush water ( 4 gallons) lasts a long time. We always make sure the trap door is closed after flushing and then put a little water in the bowl as an extra seal. Update 8/14/18. Used Friday night, Sat, Sun, and Mon until noon. Two adults ,both types of deposits.Dumped this am, no smell, other than chemical , all liquid, no paper at all. Perfect!!!! Used 4 oz Thetford Green and 8 oz water to start off. I added about 1 oz extra green on Mon. morning as insurance. Thetford RV paper used exclusively. The black tank was just barely showing red as we were packing up on Monday. I have a dedicated Aquatainer (7 gallon) jug in case black tank filled. I would have transferred the black water to the Aquatainer and brought that home to dump also. That would give me 12 gallons of black water capacity. We didn't need it, but at four days we would have. I added 1 gal of flush water on Monday. You MUST use chemical ( I use Thetford Green) ,you Must use RV toilet paper ( I use Thetford RV type ). Read and follow the instruction manual.

We had house guests that we had to set up in our basement. We do not have a basement bathroom, and we wanted to make it convenient for our guests to not have to come upstairs during the night to use our bathroom. The porta potty was sturdy, good height, efficient, no smell whatsoever, easy to use and empty. We just set it up in our tiny laundry room for them, and they loved it. In the near future we will use the porta potty when we renovate our bathroom upstairs. As well, we will use it for the bedside when an elderly family member can no longer make it to the bathroom. The electric (battery flush) works great. It was not used for solid waste so l cannot comment on that. But for liquid waste it was very efficient. We bought proper biodegradable chemicals and toilet paper for it. Emptying was easy and not gross. Only wish it came with better instructions. I had to look on line for the manual. Pretty easy to figure out anyway.

This product exceeded my expectations - especially for the price. We were considering a compost toilet (about $5,000) for off-season cottage use, but after researching, realized that a compost toilet wouldn't work, because it would freeze. I purchased this porta-potty instead at a fraction of the price, and couldn't be happier. It works similarly to an airplane or trailer toilet, with a fresh water reservoir in the top compartment, and waste contained in the bottom. When empty, it is light and portable, but when the fresh water reservoir is filled, it has a good weight, so feels sturdy and does not slide around, and is comfortable to use, because it is regular toilet height. Following the instructions for using the toilet deodorant, there is no smell, and a battery powered flusher rinses the bowl with fresh water. The two compartments come apart easily for emptying into a regular toilet or outhouse, and the base has a good seal so there is no worry of spills when transporting (a little awkward in shape and weight to carry, but I don't know how you would remedy that without sacrificing the design).

This item arrived on time and in good condition. It was quick and easy to set up and very convenient. So far I am only using it for #1 so as clean-out should be a breeze. It is light, easily moved, attractive and strongly built. I can attest that it should hold in excess of 350lb. I love the electric feature - makes it seem more like a regular toilet. The grey water fill meter doesn't work but I can easily tell when it is full. This is an interim unit until I get around to installing a 1/2 bath - but maybe I will like it too much??
