Installation was very simple, just place printer on top of the paper tray (there are obvious plastic posts to guide you and securely place the printer on top). Printer is bulky and a decent weight so please make sure you are comfortable lifting the printer. Had to turn off and on the printer for it to recognize the new tray. Used the printer menu to set up one tray for Legal and the new tray for Letter size paper. I also used the device manager on the computer to make sure the settings for the trays (default settings) were correct. Everything worked well and the product works as designed!

Installation and operation work without a hitch. If you're running both letter and legal or two kinds of paper, this saves a lot time hassle of having to switch out paper in a single tray. It's pricey though.

This is supposed to be an accessory - an add on and it costs almost as much as the damned printer you add it too. WTF?? Yes, it does its job and allows you to do both legal and regular paper printing on the same print job, but why didn't they just add a second tray to every printer and charge a few more buck or charge a reasonable price for this thing? Oh, Brother!!!

This was purchased for a new Brother MFC-8710DW all-in-one laser printer purchased at a B&M office store, which did not carry the lower paper tray. As a mobile notary public, I typically print emailed document packages of 100 to 150 mixed letter and legal pages, so a second tray is essential for "print by pdf size" efficiency. The tray arrived in the sealed OEM box, packed carefully inside a large box with airpacks surrounding the tray box for stability and protection during shipping. The tray attached to the printer base without a problem, and it feeds paper smoothly. I do use paper that is specifically for laser printing or is "multipurpose" which I believe has a smoother finish as I have found in the past that using "copy" paper will not always feed well in a laser printer.

The whole point of this was to have a dedicated LEGAL sized tray and this is what was recomended. Still have not succeeded to make the printer work correctly on MAC where it pulls LEGAL from the main tray and LETTER from this one (since this one won’t do legal). We did manage to PROGRAM the windows to work. IDK why MAC can’t figure out when you print a document that has both legal and letter in it, to send the right page to the right tray. I assume the driver is poorly written. When I purchased the printer from the Office Depot the manager said adding the tray would take care of us. Well it half way does. Build quality is similar to the printer which is generally crappy, but the printer works fine and does the job. Used to have an HP picked up at a goodwill, with 2 trays that required a printer cable, but that thing worked for YEARS. These are both LASER printers. I have owned 3 Laser and 5 or 6 ink jets over the years, and used countless professional machines at work.

This unit works well and is easy to use but the cost is a little out of line for what it is. First time I have ever really felt this way about a Brother product, very poor value for what you spend. But if you need it then you have to pay for it, that is why I "Don't like it".

excellent works well out of the box - saves much time everyone with a Brother product that this fits that uses 2 sizes of paper regularly should have one of these drawers - it it not cheap but it is worth it
