Potting soil can get expensive and heavy in big planters. This contraptions makes it so you can pot a smaller pot in a larger planter. The drawback is the metal hooks. With any weight and wind the hooks can move and scratch you pot. A hook with a rubber coating would both be better for the hook not sliding around and could prevent the top sides of your planter from being scratched.TLDR Simple fix: Rubberized hooks

They have no tension and fall to the bottom of the pot. Like the elastic is dry rotted. Started a return

I recently received this "EBaokuup 34.7 x 34.7 Inches Adjustable Height Planter Inserts-Elastic Planters Lift Riser Insert with Universal Hooks-Lightweight Planter Inserts for Large Pots Tall Planters" to make more efficient use of a tall (32") planter I have outside. This little trapeze net is a great solution for making better use of tall planters. Sure, you COULD fill a 3' tall planter with a couple cubic feet of potting soil - OR I could cut that down to much, much less soil by using only what is needed for the actual plant! BINGO!I had come up with a similar solution for the tall planter, but this setup is much more stable feeling and a lot less "rigged" than what I'd done. I'm very excited to be able to use this in place of the makeshift "riser" I had inside the planter - I have been worried about its stability since putting it in place, so I'm happy to have been able to swap it for this little "net." The only thing I have to do to make it work for the intended planter is to get some larger S-hooks to go over the lip of my planter's mouth - it's a big planter, so these S-hooks aren't quite wide enough to hold without needing something to make sure they won't slip. The only real drawback to the insert is that you can definitely see them at the top of the pot. For the planter I'm using it on, it won't matter as there's tons of greenery pouring off the very top edge that hides the whole top third of the planter, but if seeing the hooks at the top of the pot is a deal-breaker, you may want to consider other options.A great solution for taller planters, especially if they're not of the especially thick-lipped variety. Priced at $21.99 as I type this review, I have no significant issues with this product and have no reservations recommending it to others.

When you have a large planter and your plants don’t need so much soil, this netting is a good solution. The mesh is strong and will hold the plant pot nicely. The four hooks are meant to attach to the sides of a large planter. While I think the concept is great, I don’t think there are many pots on which the hooks would work well. I have a pot of the correct size, but the curve of the edge of the pot doesn’t provide a way to make the item work.

While the intention of the net is good, the application is tricky. The net is made of a quality elastic polyester band. It's constructed well and should hold a reasonably heavy pot. There are 8 hooks and adjustable straps to accommodate the depth of your outside pot. The challenge is that each hook is only about 1"+ deep. My outside pot has a thick rim. The hook is not able to latch onto the pot in this case. It would work well if your pot does not have a rim, and is deep. The other application challenge is that the diameter of the smaller pot you place inside needs to be roughly the same as your outside pot otherwise, the netting material will be visible. Overall, the netting is useful, apart from these limitations.

Hooks too small for large pots

I’ve been wanting to do something with the bean pot in our front yard, other than artificial flowers. This is it! I didn’t want to fill the whole thing with dirt, because at the end of the rainy season I’d just have a pot of mud. I was just going to put a waterproof layer on top of the insert, then the soil and plants on top of that. But I started thinking about the mud factor again, so I am going to make the insert really taut, put down the waterproof fabric, then a layer of colored pebbles. In the pebbles I’ll put a “spilled” flower pot, with the plant going on to spill over the side of the bean pot. This should require minimal soil (aka pre-mud) and I think I can find an inexpensive pump to keep the pot from collecting too much water. Even with the waterproof layer I’m sure there will be water seeping in. So that’s my plan, I measured everything and it will work. I’m going to plant nasturtium in the spilled flower pot, which will spill over the side nicely I hope! This is a great product for those who want to try new things. I highly recommend it!

This is perfect for tall planters. There is enough support to handle a good bit of weight and the pointings fit nicely. The hooks are a bit thick so you definitely couldn’t choose a vertical plant with little overhang unless seeing the hooks doesn’t bother you. All in all a very hand device as long as you have a bushy plant to hang over the lip of the planter.
