Love the fact you can put an actual compartmental pack on this frame or one of the spike duffel bags. While doing short hunts I clip the bow bucket on and some water bottles and go, super light with that setup. To me it seems like the most versatile pack from Eberlestock which is a big factor when I spend this much on a pack. As for packing out game, I had both rear quarters (not de-boned) from my elk on a single load, not fun but the pack handled it flawlessly. It's built to last!

A very good pack for a hard day of hunting. We packed out a mature bull in rough high elevation country with lots of down timber. This was a hunt that pushed us physically and mentally. This pack is lightweight sturdy and easily adjustable. Holds the load as well as you can tighten it down, meaning if it comes loose it’s not the packs fault. Fatigue and discomfort were at the extreme on a 12 mile day in hard terrain, the last 3 miles packing out the bull. When you’re working this hard you can really appreciate a good frame pack.A few weeks prior we packed out another mature bull and I used my buddies old Alaskan frame pack that was well used with thin padding. That pack was painful even in relatively easy terrain although still at 10000+.

Great fitting frame, very high quality. I purchased the whole kit, batwings, dry bag, and a spike duffel. Pictures from Eberlestock lead me to believe it is very versatile!!! Haha! The compression straps aren't long enough to go around batwings and either the spike duffel or the dry bag, much less an animal quarter. What's worse is the longer accessory straps they sell aren't compatible with the mainframes buckles. Luckily I found some Chinese nylon buckle straps on Amazon that mate with the buckles on the mainframe. Eberlestock owes all of its customers an apology and some money back on purchasing straps.

I have yet to haul a heavy load with this pack, but I am sure it will handle it well. As with all Eberlestock packs, the quality is top notch. This is the fourth Eberlestock pack I have purchased.Update: In December 2016, my rifle hunting buddy took a very large cow elk. After 4.5 hours of field dressing, we packed it out down the hill. It took 3 trips and I carried about 70 pound each trip (I weigh 170). The pack was rock solid and did not slide around. The straps make it easy to secure the load well. I have also since purchased an F2 Transformer which works great with this pack. If you take an animal, you can put the meat between the F1 and the F2 for transport. Definitely a great system.

I bought this because it is light weight, around 4 and1/2 pounds, it has a low and narrow profile and the frame can adapt to many different zip in bags so you can customize this pack frame the way you want. I plan on using this for a day pack for hunting and If I need to pack something heavy, the frame will handle it. I bought the duffle and the gun scabbard that I can attach to the pack. If I decide I don't need one or the other, I can just take it offer. Brilliant! The only thing that I would have wanted is three additional tie down straps for the sides and maybe the tops and bottom. This would allow a quarter of meet to be secured with the three straps on the pack and the additional straps to secure your daypack and other gear for the hike out.

Blown away be the construction very tough. I've had this into hell and back. It's very comfortable with plenty of adjustment. Modular with the Eberlestock Super Spike duffel bag. Its also narrow and short so it doesn't go past your shoulders or head and get caught on the brush. Makes ducking through and under brush very easy.

Bought this pack after long hours of scouring the web.The price can't be beat and in my opinion, makes packs two and three times the price look really bad. Extreme comfort, easy adjustment, strong and light. Smaller size allows full movement and quiet stalking in thick brush. Perfect!

First thing I noticed when I opened the packaging was how small it was. I was expecting something probably twice the size but this is still fine for normal backpacking. I like the external pack frames for modular use because you can slap on a bunch of dry bags and a daypack so when you get into camp you're not lugging around one big pack. You can just unstrap your day pack and carry what you need. There's plenty of Molle webbing to lash to but I was able to make the 3 straps it comes with work.
