This is a very simple to use item, provided that you read the instructions first. Another tip, thin slices of meat cook quickest and easiest. We have found that this is a popular way of dining in restaurants in France and Spain and an unusual, and fun way to have a small dinner party, saves being in the kitchen while your guests are waiting. Our friends loved it and cooked their food as they liked it.It looks lightweight but is perfectly up to the job. The chafing lamps are a little fiddly to take apart and the instructions for their use are not clear - I used tinned chaffing gel, which easily lasted for the meal, and lined the lamps with foil to make them easier to empty/clean.Don't expect the stone to clean back to new condition, it seasons like cast iron.

Der Stein muss natürlich vor Gebrauch im Backofen auf min 250grad über einen längeren Zeitraum (1-2 Stunden) durch geheizt werden damit er nicht reist. Des Weiteren sollte er, nach Gebrauch, nicht in Wasser eingeweicht werden, um ein „Vollsaugen“ mit Wasser zu vermeiden. Am besten nur feucht abwischen. Mit Patina funktioniert der Stein noch besser. Ich bin sehr zufrieden.

I was given this as a birthday present. Great idea, but embarassingly it was completely ruined by poor packaging. The first attempt to give it to me was apparently sent back because it was totally wrecked during delivery. The second attempt reached me but probably wasn't much better. The problem lies in the very heavy stone block itself. The packaging is so pathetic that the heavy metal stand that it sits on is badly bent out of shape by the stone block in the parcel during the delivery process in several places and so looks dreadfully twisted, bent and lop-sided when assembled. I would suggest that if you cannot collect this item in person from the seller, you should not buy it otherwise the bad packaging will wreck it. Pity.

I must admit I was sceptical about this product. I prepared all my veg and meat before hand, sliced some bread and melted some garlic butter and poured the red wine. Everything was set out at the table and the guests seated, I lit the gels and brought the stone through from the oven. What an absolutely fantastic night from a fantastic product. Everyone was impressed, and the steak was the tastiest I've ever tasted. I can't wait to use it again. Buy one you won't regret it.
