To start, I needed a set of heads for my 1991 3VZ-E #’s 5 and 6 both had low compression due to exhaust valve recession into the seat. I bought this left cylinder head along with a right side (same brand) for the fact that it came with the cam already installed and valve lash was set. I received my parts and checked the valve lash before installing (if you have ever had to adjust the valves on a 3vze you will know what a pain in the ass it is even with the special tool to do it with the cams still in) valve lash was good heads where flat and all the threads where cleaned and tapped to the correct sizes. Once completed the engine ran great with only some slight valvetrain noise from the drivers side. I would say I put around 500 miles on this set of new heads and then I developed a misfire under acceleration and soon at idle too. So I pulled my plug wires and found it was number 6 pulled my spark plugs and found black fouling on the plug. I am getting spark but not sure about fuel or compression. Checked compression again and had 180+ psi , my injector sounded like the where firing using a stethoscope so I ohmed them and the where about 1ohm higher than the service manual called for. I wanted to do the upgraded injectors anyway since I had no idea of when these where installed. I install my injectors and still have a misfire. Ok I have good spark good fuel air and compression. Only thing left it could be is the exhaust valve is not opening, BUT HOW THESE WHERE BRAND NEW HEADS! I pulled the valve cover and sure enough the exhaust valve wasn’t opening at all since the damn cam lobe was gone and I mean almost a perfect circle and the intake lobe wasn’t to far behind it. See my attached pictures. The cam was not hardened properly, and now I have metal all in my engine. I would suggest not wasting time or money on this brand!
