Today I am reviewing the geometry kit. There are several different types of kits to choose from and this one has 56 translucent colored hard plastic pieces in geometry shapes. It also comes with 4 translucent plastic sheets (some of which you need to cut apart) with the shapes on them. You start by lining up the different shapes onto the sheets so the child can get the idea of what the shape looks like. Then you move on to laying out the shapes and building a dimensional object. This is meant to be done on top of a light board. I also tried it on top of a white piece of paper and that works also, it is just not as fun. The light board makes the translucent pieces glow like the sun is underneath them. All of the pieces snap together, and each translucent direction sheet has arrows showing the order of assembly. The harder the project, the more difficult it can be to snap the pieces together but it is doable. Kids might need help at times. This is also meant for ‘Free Play’ and I think our 5 year old grandchild would like either way. This would be great for homeschooling, in a classroom situation where an adult could help, or just at home. Our kiddo LOVES to build things and I like to provide a very large assortment of different types of things like this.If you have a child that loves magnetic tiles, this would be a great next step. It does take some hand dexterity and some curiousity to want to see how things come together. Once these are put together they are very sturdy and could actually be played with. You can flip down one side and still have it attached making a little house for (say) a Lego person or vehicle.
