A door in my home was hung out of plumb when my home was built many years ago. Since it was not plumb, it would always swing closed by itself. The "right" fix would be to tear out the door frame and rehang the frame and door properly. That would have required drywall work, repainting and a lot of labor. Probably a full day's work and then some. There's a good chance that the door frame would not have even been salvageable after being removed, in which case an entire new prehung door would have been needed. This product was a great workaround. It took a bit of agility to insert it in the hinge bolt. Just squeeze the ends closed with pliers while inserting the bolt so that it can slip through the slot between the door and doorframe.Note that the hinge bolt will protrude slightly due to the thickness of the spring, but it will not affect operation of the door.I was able to achieve perfect balance with just one of these springs in a hinge. Now the door stays put without swinging closed (or swinging open) by itself.Admittedly, it's not as pretty as a correctly hung door but chances are that no one is going to notice other than you. And it sure is a lot better than a door that keeps closing by itself.
