I will update this review if it breaks too soon under reasonable use, but looks like a good socket. It stays secure, with some vertical free play on the ratchet by design (the groove that locks onto the ratchet's drive end ball bearing is vertical). That is different from my older sockets with a horizontal groove, but I have seen that on other brands as well and don't think I care which way it is. The removal from the packaging stub wasn't a problem. It came off with a trivial wiggle and pull just fine. Overall, not different from other individual piece retail sockets.

This Socket isn't the CDS40 socket. The SDS40 socket is different, and it's taller than this socket, so it won't match your set if you're looking for the CDS40. This item being sold is the CDS40N, a newer version of the CDS40 socket that is now discontinued.
