This sourdough starter set is what finally gave me the confidence to make a starter, and I've been wanting to do it for years!I know technically you don't need all of these things, and you can easily use a mason jar, but I was so worried I'd forget to feed it, or remember when I fed it last, etc., so the jar was what pushed me over the top to get this, and man, does it make it easy! I love being able to twist the band to when I fed it, and the temperature gage is nice too, even if probably not totally accurate.I really liked the scraper/mixer to help during feedings. The little baskets were perfect for letting my dough ferment (there are liners for both the base and to cover), and the scraper/cutter made it a breeze to divide my dough. Once they were finished and I wouldn't let the kids eat every single bagel like they wanted, the bread bag stored them perfectly. ImI'm still a newbie (obviously), so I haven't used all of the tools yet, but I love that I have all bases covered.I think a lot of people make sourdough out to be way more complicated than it is, or needs to be. Don't be scared, grab a set and begin your bread journey. :)

Whenever one is making, building or crafting, it's the little things that just make things easier and less of a chore. This set has those things. It comes with a luffa brush, which technically isn't for making bread, but it certainly makes sticky dough cleaning easier. It's just included. It's not a plain jar in the kit. The jar has measurement markings and a place for "Last Fed On." It's the right size for getting a hand in there for cleaning, but doesn't take up too much room. Not just one lid, but two - a silicone and a cloth elastic one. A tracking band is included with days and hours marked on it. A wooden handle bread lame that includes a box of blades and a leatherette cover to protect the blade and fingers. A cheery, red silicone, long spatula, along with wooden handled dough whisk and dough scraper. The scraper has centimeter measurement markings on it as well. Two different shaped baskets, each with their own two cloths, have red handles with metal rivets to secure them for easy handling and hanging. A bread bag with plastic lining and drawstring and baking sling with measurements. I love the dual functionality that many of the items include. The quality is good and I think the only thing I myself would change would be a beeswax lined bag instead of plastic. A good deal with everything included and all the little details.

For the price this set is as complete as you can probably get. I have a set that came with silicone banaton baskets and I have to say these are far far better. I also like that they not only came with a top cover but also inside liner as well. The fact that they are fabric and are well made made me very happy and I am excited to use them. The bread bags with the liner do in fact keep your hard work fresh for longer. The jar is also well made and glass is heavy. The non slip bottom is a nice added touch as well. The spatula is great for stirring your starter when feeding it.This set also makes an amazing affordable gift for anyone you know that is either into bread making or wants to get started. Keep calm and bake on with this amazing set.

This is a terrific set for beginners. All the most important elements are here: it’s large enough to have plenty of room for your starter to grow, the temperature sticker is accurate and helps keep tabs on conditions, and the day and time band helps you keep track of feedings so they stay consistent. The bonus features I love are the non-slip base and the stirrer that doubles as a rubber scraper, but the baskets, lame, and bench scraper also get a lot of use. I don’t love that the bag is lined with plastic, and I don’t find the dough whisk particularly helpful or of above average quality. Everything in this set is useful though, and it would be perfect to gift or get for yourself! There are no instructions included, but those are easy enough to come by. It’s a good value for a one-stop sourdough starter setup.

This is a great starter set for getting in to making sourdough bread. Nice glass jar to keep your starter with a scraper for mixing. I like that there are two lids for the jar, a cloth lid to let air in and a silicon lid for keeping your starter in the fridge. Then there is pretty much everything you need for the bread making process: dough whisk and bench scraper and two styles of banneton. I have been making round loaves, but want to try more of a loaf shape or baguette style, which I can do with the oval style. I also like that there is a basket liner AND rising cover for each style. They really thought of everything! I am also excited to try out the sling- getting your proofed dough into the oven is more of a challenge than you think and that sling looks like it will do the job. You could easily spend much more getting each of these items separately- even if you don't need every item in this kit it is a great buy for 3 or 4 of these items.

I got this for my Mom after I'd brought her some of my starter and it really has everything you need to get going with bread other than a scale. The starter jar, the bags, the dough scraper, bannetons, etc. The price is ridiculously low for all of this and it is all of nice quality. Wish I'd gotten it when I got started, as I would have saved a bunch of money buying all of this separately. Nice looking matching set.
